Solomon Islands - Sweet Potatoes are a big staple

Sweet potatoes are eaten in large quantities by residents of the Solomon Islands (an archipelago of several hundred islands in the southwest Pacific Ocean). The six main islands are Choiseul, Guadalcanal, Malaita, New Georgia, San Cristobal and Santa Isabel. Total population is approximately 429,000 people. Annually, over 160kg (approximately 350 lbs) of sweet potatoes are eaten per person (Americans eat less than 5 lbs per person). Sweet potatoes are served up in a variety of ways including baked, mashed, in puddings, and in salads.

Australia - Sweet Potato (Kumara) Consumption is Increasing

In Australia, sweet potato (kumara) consumption has increased, production has doubled in the past five years, and the continent's export market has grown quickly. The vast majority of the national crop is grown by Queensland farmers.
